My name is Rea Ragasa, a dressmaker, and I am 41 years old. My husband's name is Edgar Ragasa, a security guard, and he is 40 years old. We have been married since 2007 and have been disciples at Naga Church for almost two decades. We have one son, Quervy, who is 17 years old and hearing impaired When Quervy was six, he was hospitalized due to pneumonia and a urinary tract infection (UTI). He experienced a severe fever that lasted for thirty-four hours straight. His fever was so intense that doctors had to administer a high dosage of antibiotics to bring it down. According to the doctor, this high dosage caused damage to the cochlea in his ears.
At the age of seven, his hearing in his left ear began to deteriorate. By the time he was ten, his right ear also started to fail. When we finally consulted a doctor, we learned that his left ear had completely shut down, and his right ear was in urgent need of a hearing aid to prevent total hearing loss. With the help of the government (DSWD) and our own resources, we were able to purchase low-quality hearing aids, as we could not afford high-quality ones. Quervy was only able to complete Grade 8 and does not want to continue schooling because he cannot hear properly, even with a hearing aid. He was also bullied at school for struggling to keep up with lessons. As parents, it deeply pains us that our son cannot continue his education because of his hearing impairment.
We are reaching out to ETF for financial assistance to provide Quervy with a high-quality hearing aid, as his hearing continues to deteriorate. A good-quality device would greatly improve his ability to hear, allowing him to be more independent and giving him a chance to live a normal life. Your financial support would make a significant difference in our son's condition, and we would be deeply grateful for your generosity. Thank you in advance for your kindness and support.
