My name is Gertrude Chibesa, and I am 38 years old. I have been a disciple for almost two years in ICOC Zambia, and I am a single mother to a 17-year-old son. Unfortunately, my son’s father has not provided any support, so I am solely responsible for his well-being. My son alternates between living with me and staying with his paternal grandmother. I run a small business offering mobile money services (such as money transfers and bill payments), earning a modest commission for each transaction. I also travel 30 kilometers for this job, and to pursue a side hustle, I am selling second-hand clothes to help cover pending bills and rent.
Recently, I have been experiencing recurring pain in my legs, which has made it increasingly difficult to work and travel the 30 kilometers required for my job. On top of this, I am struggling with chronic tonsillitis, which significantly impacts my quality of life, especially with the changing seasons. The symptoms include a severe sore throat, high fever, headaches, fatigue, and difficulty swallowing food. I have been advised to undergo surgery to remove my tonsils, but due to financial constraints, I am unable to save enough money for the operation or to get a proper diagnosis for the pain in my legs. I am humbly reaching out to ETF for assistance to help cover the cost of my surgery and diagnosis. The operation would relieve a major hindrance to my ability to work and provide for my son. Any amount you can contribute will go a long way in alleviating my financial burden and enabling me to focus on supporting my son. Thank you so much for your generosity and kindness.
